How to Create an Attractive CV?

Because of lack of time, recruiters spend an average of 6 seconds on a resume to undertake an initial screening. It is therefore important to add visual appeal to the document in order to catch their attention and make good first impression. But there is no need to get complicated, the best solution is to opt for a minimalist CV structure, both aesthetic and simple to make.

Use an Online CV Template

Currently, there are more and more websites that propose a CV template list to help job seekers build the perfect resume without any difficulty. Take time to browse the pages to find the CV templates which suit the most adapted to your profile and the position sought. Then, pick the one you appreciate the most. Anyway, avoid too fancy and too colorful template. You have to catch the recruiter’s eye but that does not mean you have to set aside the sobriety of the CV.

Make a One-Page CV

Before you get into the layout part, you need to make sure you have sorted out all the information to put in your CV. One of the best ways to do it is starting from scratch. You can make a list of all your professional experiences with the corresponding achievements and results. And depending on what is requested in the job offer, select only the major assignments that stick to the position you want to get. Then select 3 to 4 achievements that coincide to the offer. It allows you to make a CV that fits on one page and not more.

Choose a Simple Font for your CV

Even if the choice of a font is fairly personal, some typos are more appropriate for a CV than others. According to many experts in recruitment, this is the case for the Calibri and Verdana fonts. Arial is also often used in resumes, rightly so, because it is neutral and perfectly readable. The important thing to be taken into account while choosing a font is that it must be clear and easy to read, both on screen and in print.

On the other hand, it is recommended to stick to one font for the entire document. Concerning the font size, you can choose 12 for the body of the text, a little larger for the title, the headings and the functions held. To draw attention to the most important words, think of the bold, forget the italics and banish written words in all uppercase.
